CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
Deadline: Wednesday, November 18, 2009 (make note of this new, earlier deadline)
The 2010 Pediatric Academic Societies' Annual Meeting (PAS) will be held May 1 - 4 in Vancouver, BC, Canada. This picturesque site will serve as the host city to the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games! Vancouver is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in North America. Vancouver has been ranked as North America's top destination for international meetings. We will host our program at the new Vancouver Convention Centre, which is a phenomenal structure built over land and water, with floor-to-ceiling glass throughout and offers harbour and mountain views to enhance your meeting experience.
In addition to the PAS sponsoring societies (APS, SPR, APA, AAP), many other Alliance Societies will host their own annual meetings or will meet and host program activities in conjunction with the PAS. The involvement and synergy created through alliances with each of these organizations continues to expand, providing high energy and exciting opportunities for exchange and collaboration.
We have organized an outstanding invited science program. Special highlights include an unopposed opening general session, a symposium on Vaccine Public Policy; Update on Pediatric Drug Development Trials; The emerging Role of Epigenetics in Pediatrics, a program track which celebrates the APAs 50th Anniversary; a plethora of topics dealing with issues related to the neonate and many more. Take a few moments to review the full list of topics we will present this year at: http://www.pas-meeting.org/2010Vancouver/Schedules/2010_ProgramHighlights.pdf. This activity has been approved for AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM.
The pride and reputation of the PAS Annual Meeting has always been based on the presentation of the highest quality original science because our membership recognizes the value of a multidisciplinary, collaborative meeting, which serves as a venue for scientific networking. Your support and participation, through the submission of your best abstracts and attendance, is the key to our persistent success and growth, despite many pressures and competing interests in the various medical communities. I encourage you to submit an abstract of the highest quality from your own laboratory or clinical research program for consideration and encourage your junior faculty and trainees, as well as others in your discipline, to submit abstracts detailing cutting edge novel investigations that are hypothesis-driven, and support the meeting. The PAS is an outstanding forum for presentations by young investigators. Abstracts presented at another national subspecialty or regional meeting can be submitted to the PAS.
Visit the PAS web site (http://www.pas-meeting.org/) for additional details on electronic submission. You may also contact the PAS Program Office for further information. Additional program, housing and registration materials will be available in early December.
The PAS Annual Meeting is a particularly important opportunity for the medical community focused on child health to show their support for academic medicine. Help us to ensure that we continue to be a showcase for the best in pediatrics and child health research and the enthusiasm and vigor of academic medicine in this century. We look forward to your abstract submissions and your participation in Vancouver.
